How wonderful it is to be able to exhibit at a new venue. The Old Goods Shed at Clare Castle Country Park was a new one for the SEAW in 2022. And what a beautiful venue it was!

I have many find memories of taking my own children to Clare Country Park when they were small. My son loved trains – no he was actually fanatical about trains and so we made many trips to train places. Clare was great for that – the site of the old and long gone Clare railway station, with a bit of railway track remaining,  a few old sheds, a lovely play park and walks by the beautiful River Stour, part of the Stour Valley Way.

Twenty five years on and the sheds are now a thriving and active gallery and a little cafe on the old station platform provides welcome refreshments.

I exhibited these 3 framed paintings for Clare …

And evening comes                                                                 Irish echinacea                             The blue door

Plus a couple of unframed …

                                  Heathland trees                                                        Through the window

And in a new venture for SEAW – a super 60 – a small unframed painting ….

                                                                                              Skyscape

With the Ukranian crisis ongoing we decided to hold a collection for the Disasters Emergency Committee – Ukraine Humanitarian Fund and set up a display of paintings inspired by the theme of Peace …

We also held a ‘Come and paint in the park day’ for SEAW Members and Friends. A wonderful opportunity for fellow artists to come together and enjoy a day sketching and painting in the beautiful grounds of Clare Country Park and for the public to watch some of us busy with our favourite passion. Artists and the public were encouraged to donate to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund in the gallery.
